Julie Lizotte has been instructing and advising at "Masters Agility"
for over four years and is responsible for revamping our training
program to make "Masters" one of the most progressive agility
training schools in the area. Julie was instrumental in "Master's"
adoption of the Greg Derrett Handling System (GDHS), a system
that provides clear and concise information to the dog, and easy
to follow handling requirements for the handler.
Julie has been training and competing in agility since 1999. She
has trained with some of the top agility trainers and handlers in
North America and Britain. Julie is completely committed to the
GDHS; the seminars she has taken with Greg and the private
online lessons/video-conferencing with him have given Julie a
thorough understanding of his system. Because Julie has seen
firsthand the benefits of the GDHS with her dogs and also those
of the handlers she has trained, her training and handling are
always consistent GDHS. She has a keen eye and an ability to
see what the problem is and how to fix it.
Julie?s philosophy includes teaching dogs to perform obstacles
fast and accurately, as well as teaching the handler how to control
and move their dog around the course with confidence, with
consistency, and within the Derrett system. For individuals who
choose to go on and become more competitive, Julie will coach
them on mental management, goal setting and creating and
implementing training plans.
Julie currently runs with her 7 year-old Border Collie Webber AtChC, and her 4 year-old Golden, Bree. Her 9
year-old Golden Retriever Brodie had a successful agility career until illness forced him into early retirement;
Brodie placed 1st in his class at the 2004 Nationals, having placed 5th in Nationals 2002. Brodie was the first
dog in New Brunswick to earned his ATChC and his Bronze Award of Merit before his career and his life ended
prematurely with cancer.
Julie and her husband Craig have a young daughter, Jillian. Julie also has a full time career as a science
teacher at the high school level. She carries over experience and training from her educational career to create
a professional and easy to understand approach to agility training. |
